Former Associates
At Fry Orthodontics, we enjoy the stability of many long-term employees and long-term relationships with our Associate Doctors. However, we recognize that it is the goal of many doctors to eventually move on and create a private practice of their own. We see this arrangement as a win-win opportunity. Our office benefits from the fresh minds of recent graduates and our new associates then receive a real-world education in our state-of-the-art practice.
Dr. Wood
Dr. Brent Wood, DDS graduated in 1997 from the University of Kansas with a Bachelor of Science degree in Genetics. He continued his education at the University of Missouri Kansas City where he was awarded his Doctorate of Dental Surgery and completed his residency program in Orthodontics and Dento-Facial Orthopedics in 2006. Dr. Wood is a past president of the American Student Dental Association at UMKC. He is a member of the ADA and the AAO and is a certified Invisalign provider.
Dr. Wood was born and raised in Johnson County and is excited to be helping create smiles in his hometown. He enjoys golfing, skiing, traveling, and spending time with his wife and three young children.

Dr. Kanning
Dr. Neil Kanning, DMD, MS received his Dental degree, with honors, from the University of Alabama in 1998. After practicing dentistry in the Air Force for four years, he received his masters of Science degree in Orthodontics from the University of Iowa College of Dentistry. Dr. Kanning is a member of the ADA and AAO and a certified Invisalign provider.
Dr. Kanning chose to make orthodontics his specialty because he loves helping patients of all ages achieve a healthy and beautiful smile. He enjoys traveling, camping, hiking, cycling, and spending time with his family.

Dr. Staab
Dr. Arlen Staab, DDS, MS graduated from the University of Missouri at Kansas in 1961, having completed both his DDS and MS degrees. He served as an Associate Clinical Professor of the Orthodontic Department at UMKC and managed his own private orthodontic practice in Overland Park for many years. He is a Premier Certified Invisalign Provider and has been published in the Journal of Dental Research. We came to appreciate not only Dr. Staab’s professional knowledge but also his sense of humor and caring approach to patients during his time with Fry Orthodontics from 1992 to 2006.
Dr. Staab had this to say about Fry Orthodontics: "I miss working at Fry Orthodontics and especially all of the talented staff members and our mutual efforts to create beautiful smiles. The last 13 years of my orthodontic career, working with Fry Orthodontics, were the most fantastic period in my orthodontic career!"
Dr. Hoffman
Dr. Robert B. Hoffman, DDS, MS received his Dental degree from the University of Illinois in Chicago. After practicing family dentistry for three years, he returned to school to pursue his degree in Orthodontics and earn his MS degree at Loma Linda University in Loma Linda, CA.
During his studies, Dr. Hoffman was awarded the Peter Iagmin Scholarship for Most Outstanding Dental Student by the University of Illinois (1999), and later went on to serve as a part-time faculty member at Loma Linda University (2002-2004). Dr. Hoffman was a part of the Fry Orthodontic family from 2004 to 2006, and is now practicing in Chicago, Illinois.
What Dr. Hoffman says about his time at Fry Orthodontics: "The experience that I gained while being a part of the Fry Orthodontics Team has changed the way that I practice orthodontics. Dr. Jones
Dr. David Jones, DDS, MSD graduated from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Dentistry in 1977. After practicing as a general dentist for eleven years, Dr. Jones returned to school to specialize in orthodontics. He graduated from the University of Texas at Houston in 1990 where he earned his Masters in dentistry and received his orthodontic certificate. We enjoyed working with Dr. Jones from 1990 to 1991. He is now practicing orthodontics in Lawrence, Kansas.
What Dr. Jones says about his time at Fry Orthodontics: "I’d say the biggest benefit I gained from working at Fry Orthodontic Specialists is the insight into organizing and running a large, efficient orthodontic practice.
