Welcome to Dr. Jeremy's Blog!
This page is designed to answer any questions that you may have about anything related to dentistry and orthodontics. Since January 2007, many questions have been posted to our YouTube video pages, and this blog brings the opportunity to post such questions and comments on the Fry Orthodontics website. I invite other dental professionals to discuss and answer questions also related to their specific specialty. I hope you find these posts helpful in answering your questions.

Happy New Year from Fry Orthodontic Specialists!
Our philosophy at Fry Orthodontic Specialists regarding all treatment is to facilitate orthodontics being completed in the shortest amount of time possible. The longer orthodontic treatment continues, the more money it usually costs, the more time kids need to be taken out of school, and the more hours are missed from work. Our goal is to eliminate the need for long orthodontic treatment.
One of the most disappointing parts of our job, as orthodontists, is a situation where patients have neglected to properly care for their teeth during the orthodontic treatment. When the teeth are neglected, discolored areas of white (and sometimes yellow) will form on the teeth around the braces and may require additional dental treatment or fillings after the braces are removed.
I can easily say that throughout orthodontic treatment and following orthodontics, flossing is one of the most important cleaning activities that can be done. Flossing will help prevent cavities, help prevent tooth scarring (or decalcification), help prevent gingivitis and possible bone loss and bad breath.
Braces are attached to the teeth with a small amount of dental glue that is strong, but not strong enough to hold when eating extremely hard or chewy foods. If the braces break off your teeth, an additional visit will be required, and the braces treatment may be prolonged.
